Burning Filament

I've been wanting to do this well known project for a while. It is a close up of a lightbulb burning out. You can see some nice examples on this photo blog, and a good tutorial that I followed on DIY Photography. A variation I may try is poking a hole in the bulb to release the vacuum instead of breaking it. That way the smoke stays inside. There are a bunch of great examples on Flickr.
